چکیده

A second prototype of biped walking robot, named as EPWAR2 (Electropneumatic WAlking Robot), has been designed and built at LARM (Laboratory of Robotics and Mechatronics) in Cassino. In addition to the performances of previous prototype EP-WAR, EP-WAR2 is able to climb stairs because of a new actuation system. A suitable programming of the PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) has been based on several subroutines, which run different walking motions and specifically to climb stairs. Experimental tests prove the validity of the proposed low-cost design and programming technique.

Motion Planning of Biped Robot Climbing Stairs

The motion control of a biped robot that can climb up and down stairs is studied in this work. The algorithm generates walking patterns with desired stable margin and walking speed. Only the approximate stair height and width are required. This algorithm derives the optimal hip height and uses cubic polynomial to generate the hip and foot trajectory. The control of initial and final speeds in a...

A Wheel-based Stair-climbing Robot with a Hopping Mechanism

In this chapter, we introduce a stair-climbing robot developed in our laboratory. This robot consists basically of two body parts connected by springs, and hops as a result of the vibration of a two-degrees-of-freedom (2-DOF) system. The excellent combination between the frequencies of the robotic body vibration and the tread-riser interval of stairs enables a small and simple robot fast stair ...

legs to assist walking and moving up-and-down stairs [1]. A control bar is attached to the robot waist to assist the aged person by stepping onto the feet of the robot. The robot “Zero Walker-1” [2] focused on ascending and descending stairs. An electric wheelchair named “iBOT” [3], capable of ascending and descending stairs and slopes was released by a Japanese company. In [4], a bipedal robot...

Single-step collision-free trajectory planning of biped climbing robots in spatial trusses.

For a biped climbing robot with dual grippers to climb poles, trusses or trees, feasible collision-free climbing motion is inevitable and essential. In this paper, we utilize the sampling-based algorithm, Bi-RRT, to plan single-step collision-free motion for biped climbing robots in spatial trusses. To deal with the orientation limit of a 5-DoF biped climbing robot, a new state representation a...

A Fuzzy Control Based Stair-Climbing Service Robot

Recently, Taiwan and many developed countries have been experienced an emergence of growing aging population and decreasing working population and birth rate. The number of home-caring workers in need has surpassed that of available working force. Furthermore, the expense of home-caring elders will substantially increase. The employment of foreign workers is just a temporary solution. It is the...
